It’s never too early to start pulling your holiday marketing campaign together. Plan out everything you can ahead of time, setup scheduling and automation, and make your life easier once the hectic holiday season finally does roll around. This will also make it easier to adjust your strategy as you go along and notice what your competitors are doing.

1. Remember that repetition is the key to selling. Don’t be afraid to market your products over and over. Send e-mails that promote the same products, mail out direct mailers, and mail holiday cards that announce your upcoming sales.

2. Get your customers moving and encourage them to make a purchase right away by offering time-limited deals.

3. Offer guarantees. Businesses go head-to-head during the holiday season and competition is huge. Tell your customers that you’ll price-match similar items, even on Black Friday. During the holiday season, customers are looking for the best deals available. Offering a price that’s slightly lower than normal can mean closing the sale and getting a new customer out of it.

4. Take advantage of high-traffic shopping areas, which will be even more frequented during the holidays. Put up posters and flyers, lay out postcards and brochures, and make sure that your hard copy marketing materials are in front of shoppers.

5. Do you have a physical shop where you sell your products? Use large floor stickers to direct shoppers to the most prominent and profitable displays.

6. Send out postcards that have coupon codes. This will encourage your customers to head to your website or to come in to the store.

7. Most people don’t do their holiday shopping in one day. They’re bound to head out two or more times during the holiday season to get gifts for everyone on their list. Make sure they return to your store by offering an incentive every time they make a purchase. For example, you can give them a coupon code to get a certain percentage off their next purchase, so long as it’s before a certain date. Customer loyalty cards will have a similar effect.

8. Host a holiday kick-off event, like a hot chocolate bar or a tree lighting ceremony. If you sell products for kids, have Santa meet and greet them.

9. If you have a holiday catalog coming out, have pre-copies sent to your best customers. They can get their shopping done early! To make their holiday shopping easier, consider creating a gift catalog with suggestions for all the people on their list.

Want to make sure your customers remember you even after the holiday shopping rush is over? Give out calendars! They’ll have your brand in front of them every day of the year.
